Ottawa, ON — June 15, 2026 — Cooperation Canada is proud to announce the launch of ATLAS (Advancing Transparency, Learning and Accountability in Solidarity), a new public data platform designed to strengthen understanding of Canada’s international cooperation sector through accessible, interactive and evidence-based insights. The platform will be officially unveiled at a launch event at the Ottawa Art Gallery on June 15, bringing together representatives from across Canada’s international cooperation community. ATLAS is the first platform of its kind to bring together public data into a single, user-friendly system that maps the composition and reach of Canada’s international cooperation sector. By integrating financial, organizational, geographic and thematic data, the platform offers a comprehensive picture of the sector’s size, diversity, funding landscape, global reach and evolving priorities. “ATLAS represents a significant step forward in our collective ability to understand and tell the story of Canada’s international cooperation sector,” said Kate Higgins, Cooperation Canada’s CEO. “By making data more accessible and interactive, we are creating a shared resource that can support learning, transparency, collaboration, and evidence-informed decision-making.” Drawing on publicly available data from the Canada Revenue Agency’s T3010 charity filings and Global Affairs Canada’s Historical Projects Dataset, ATLAS currently covers the period from 2015 to 2023. The platform includes data from more than 400 organizations working across international development and humanitarian action. Users can explore: Sector revenue and funding trends over time Sources of organizational funding Geographic distribution of programming Thematic areas of focus including but not limited to health, education, agriculture, humanitarian assistance and climate action Policy priorities including but not limited to gender equality, food security and environmental sustainability Organizational characteristics, including size and classification The dashboard was developed over more than a year of research, data development and collaboration, with support from Global Affairs Canada and guidance from a strategic advisory committee. The project was designed not only as a snapshot of the sector today, but as a sustainable platform that can be updated over time to support ongoing analysis and learning. ATLAS serves a broad audience, including civil society organizations, researchers, funders, policymakers, journalists, students and members of the public interested in international cooperation. The platform is fully bilingual in English and French. The launch of ATLAS comes at a time when access to reliable sector-wide data is increasingly important for understanding the contributions, challenges and opportunities facing Canada’s international cooperation community. “ATLAS helps answer fundamental questions about who makes up the international cooperation sector, where resources are flowing, what issues are being prioritized and how the sector has evolved over time,” said Kate Higgins. “It provides a stronger evidence base for dialogue and action across the international cooperation community.” Notes to Editors Media are invited to attend the launch of ATLAS, Cooperation Canada’s new data platform mapping Canada’s international cooperation sector on June 15, 2026, at the Ottawa Art Gallery.
