What We Do

Cooperation Canada is the national voice and coalition for Canadian international development and humanitarian organizations.

We bring together more than 100 organizations to coordinate efforts, share expertise and speak with a unified voice on the policies and issues that shape international cooperation.

As a national network, we connect and collaborate with diverse partners in Canada and globally, including civil society, government, philanthropy, the private sector and academia. Our role is to bring people and evidence together, strengthen collective influence and support the conditions for meaningful, principled and locally-led impact.

We advance this work across key areas, including development finance and policy, global governance, humanitarian action and peace, organizational effectiveness, and civil society, civic spaces and democracy, with a cross-cutting focus on shifting power toward more equitable and locally led approaches.

We represent our members to government and decision-makers, advocate for effective, inclusive and accountable international cooperation, convene partners to collaborate and share knowledge and provide learning opportunities that strengthen the sector and maximize impact.

Civic space refers to the conditions that allow civil society to operate freely, safely and effectively, enabling people and organizations to participate in public life, hold governments accountable and advance inclusive development.
