This policy brief summarizes the findings of a participatory action research study conducted in Uganda on the risks of sexual exploitation and abuse (SEA) among South Sudanese refugee populations in food distribution. It highlights specific points where SEA risks arise, including sensitization/registration, distribution points, and transporting/storing food. Recommendations from refugee women and girls are provided to improve safety during food distribution, focusing on sex-segregated lines, transportation support, increased involvement of women in aid processes, community sensitization, and accompaniment systems.
