Advancing Indigenous rights and reconciliation requires truth, humility and sustained action. It begins with acknowledging the ongoing impacts of colonialism, including residential schools, and recognizing that reconciliation is not symbolic—it is a shared responsibility that must shape how organizations lead, decide and act.

Cooperation Canada supports organizations across the sector to engage reconciliation as an ongoing process grounded in Indigenous self-determination, respect for Indigenous knowledge systems and accountability at the governance level.

This work emphasizes leadership commitment, ethical partnerships with Indigenous Peoples and integrating Indigenous perspectives into organizational policies, structures and decision-making.

Through learning, listening and collaboration, we bring organizations together to strengthen understanding, address common challenges and support meaningful action on reconciliation. Our work supports a sector that is better equipped to advance Indigenous rights in ways that are respectful, accountable and sustained.

By drawing on shared learning and collective experience, we support organizations to embed reconciliation into how they operate—so that international cooperation contributes to efforts that are meaningful, rights-based and rooted in lasting change.
