About the Board Elections

Cooperation Canada’s Board is composed of up to 14 Directors, elected to represent the diversity and priorities of our membership. Of these 14 Directors, ten are nominated and elected by members, and four are nominees of provincial and regional councils, one of which shall be from Quebec. Terms on the Board are for two years, and Board members can sit on the Board for a maximum of three terms, or six years.

Cooperation Canada Board Elections: 2026 Approach

This year, Cooperation Canada will not be seeking new candidates for election to our Board of Directors.

According to Cooperation Canada’s By-Laws, a person can serve as Director of the Cooperation Canada Board for a maximum of three consecutive terms of two years each.

This year:

• No Cooperation Canada Board members are coming to the end of their third term.
• Four members are coming to the end of their first term.
• Two of the four provincial and regional council representatives are coming to the end of their two-year term, and two provincial and regional council representatives will require ratification by Cooperation Canada Members at the September 2026 AGM.
• The remaining Board members are in the middle of their current term and not up for re-election.

Given the shortened Board term of the current cycle (Board members started their terms in January 2025 rather than September 2024), the absence of Board members coming to the end of their third term, and a desire to maintain continuity as Cooperation Canada launches a new Strategic Framework, the Board has decided that nominations for new Board members will not be opened this year, and a slate of nominees will be presented to Cooperation Canada Board Members for ratification at the September 2026 AGM. This slate will consist of Board members seeking a second two-year term plus two provincial and regional council representatives.

While this event is open to the public, please note that your organization must be an active Cooperation Canada member to vote at the AGM.
