Role Description:

As the Vice President of Program Delivery, you will be responsible for guiding and managing a highly motivated and accomplished team of project management and technical experts in Canada and in the field who are responsible for delivering a wide range of complex development projects funded by Global Affairs Canada.

As the GAC delivery lead, you will be responsible for the full cycle of project management from project design through to implementation and closure. You will be responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with our clients and looking for opportunities to increase our impact.

As a key member of Alinea’s senior management team, you will lead Alinea’s programme delivery in Canada and collaborate with our teams globally to ensure Alinea is well positioned to meet future challenges.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Oversee a team of Project Directors and Technical Directors (e.g., MEL, Gender, Climate Change) responsible for planning and managing GAC project activities and ensure that projects are of high quality and completed on time and within budget; etc.
  • Provide Project Director and/or technical consulting inputs on projects as appropriate.
  • Provide oversight and guidance on issues as they arise (e.g., project risks, HR issues, contract management).
  • Oversee the staffing of project teams, including coordinating with other Alinea offices as required.
  • Provide strategic direction on project delivery through direct engagement with project teams, donors, and beneficiaries.
  • Participate in business intelligence and program development activities to maintain and grow the GAC portfolio.
  • Develop and maintain a network of contacts in the international development field, including donors, key government representatives, leadership teams in other organizations, international and local networks, etc.

 

Qualifications:

  • Relevant educational background, ideally a master’s degree in field associated with international development.
  • 15 years in a senior management role at an international development organization/firm.
  • Bilingualism is an asset.

 

Desired Skills:

  • Extensive experience building, leading, and managing large international project teams.
  • Strong interpersonal skills (leadership, diplomacy, communication, conflict management, etc).
  • Excellent team building, mentoring, and coaching skills.
  • Demonstrated management experience with Global Affairs Canada and other donors.
  • Proven track record in contributing to the pursuit and acquisition of new business and preparation of proposals.
  • Experience managing budgets, tracking financial performance, and providing financial oversight for donor-funded projects.
  • Extensive experience in fostering collaboration and strategic partnerships with private sector, all levels of government, development agencies, private foundations, and NGOs.
