Global Affairs Canada has made available the Innovative Financing for Sustainable Development Guidance Note. This note forms part of a suite of innovation and effectiveness guidance that has been developed to shift our international assistance processes and practices to support the achievement of its Feminist International Assistance Policy objectives and the sustainable development goals (SDGs).
This guidance provides a frame to deliver on innovative financing initiatives. It lays out an overview of past initiatives and the tools available. It also outlines targeted and gender-smart pathways that will help to forge new financing partnerships that respond to the needs of developing countries to lift the poorest and most vulnerable out of poverty.
This document will be complemented by training, expert support and tools such as case studies. It will continue to be updated in response to new developments and lessons identified through the experience of Canadian and international partners.
