We are pleased to invite you to a high-level discussion where key findings from the 2025 Global Peace Index will be presented and discussed.
This session will be hosted in collaboration with Cooperation Canada and the Institute for Economics and Peace (IEP). A fireside chat with Michael Collins, Executive Director Americas, IEP, and experts will offer regional and thematic reflections, exploring how evidence-based insights can support more strategic and effective peacebuilding responses in today’s rapidly changing global context.
IEP will release its 2025 Global Peace Index (GPI) — the world’s leading measure of global peacefulness. Covering 163 countries and territories, and accounting for 99.7% of the world’s population, the GPI evaluates 23 qualitative and quantitative indicators across three domains: Societal Safety and Security, Ongoing Domestic and International Conflict, and the Degree of Militarization.
Who: All Cooperation Canada members and non-members are invited. Representatives from peacebuilding, human rights, conflict resolution, social development, gender equality, and economic justice organizations in the National Capital region.
Background
The Institute for Economics and Peace (IEP) is an independent, non-partisan, non-profit think tank committed to shifting the world’s focus toward peace as a tangible and achievable measure of human well-being and societal progress. IEP pioneers new conceptual frameworks to define peacefulness, develops innovative metrics to measure peace, and explores the root causes that sustain it. Headquartered in Sydney, with regional offices in New York, The Hague, Mexico City, Brussels, and Nairobi, IEP collaborates with a global network of partners to advance research and communicate the economic value of peace.
