Aster is an Ethiopian expert with 10+ years of experience in the areas of PSEA, child protection/safeguarding and child rights. Her technical assistance involves Government and non-government International Cooperation including but not limited to the Ethiopian Federal Supreme Court – Child Justice Program, Save the Children, The African Child Policy Forum and other International organizations via the Safeguarding Resource and Support Hub (RSH). She had been providing advisory services to the Ethiopian Safeguarding Resource and Support Hub (as one member of the Advisory Board of Experts) in framing strategic directions and expanding good practices in PSEA and safeguarding. she also facilitated a number of face-to-face and virtual capacity building trainings and developed capacity building resource tools and operational guidelines/procedures. In this regard, she has provided trainings to justice and law enforcement professionals, NGO staff, community representatives and other stakeholders having contribution to PSEA and Safeguarding. Furthermore, with the objective of strengthening systems in PSEA and Safeguarding, she facilitated different research, policy dialogues and coordination mechanisms at local and national levels. Aster also has good experience in promoting inclusive organizational system in safeguarding, as it specifically relates to the safeguarding of children with disabilities. In this regard, she has facilitated trainings and developed training tool and guideline that guide the establishment of inclusive organizational system on safeguarding for Ethiopian partner organizations of different International Cooperation Organizations like LIGHT FOR THE WORLD and Kindernothilfe (KNH). Aster is a native Amharic speaker and fluently speaks English.
