This policy brief summarizes findings from a study conducted in Uganda with South Sudanese refugees regarding sexual exploitation and abuse (SEA) risks related to WASH (water, sanitation, and hygiene) assistance. The study identified SEA risks during distributions, infrastructure improvements, and water collection. It offers recommendations to enhance safety, including sex-segregated lines, community engagement, transportation support, improved lighting, increased involvement of women aid workers, response mechanisms, community sensitization, accompaniment systems, and enhanced security at distribution points.
