Asia-Pacific Working Group

The Asia-Pacific Working Group (APWG) is one of three geographic working groups of the Canadian Council for International Co-operation (CCIC).
The APWG brings together NGOs, faith-based organizations, unions and solidarity groups from across Canada that have a specific interest in development, social justice, and human rights in Asia.
The APWG’s purpose is threefold:
to improve the impact of its members through collaborative reflection and analysis,
to include input from southern partners,
through the coordination of policy development, dialogue and learning.

Mandate
- Monitor and share analysis and information on Canada’s international cooperation and foreign policy agenda in the Asia-Pacific region
- Provide a space for exchange of information and collaboration among members for policy dialogue and learning
- Promote the experience and perspectives of voices from Asia in policy dialogue and development
- Facilitate the sharing of lessons and good practice in policy and program work
In addition to the annual members’ meeting, the APWG organizes many activities such as symposiums, roundtables and webinars with guest speakers as well as meetings with government representatives. The APWG also produces a bulletin with news and events on international cooperation, Asia and Canada.
Membership
Membership is open to CCIC organizations with a policy and/or programme interest in Asia. Other organizations may also become members upon approval of the APWG Coordinating Committee.
