Sécurité alimentaire et bien-être, à quelles conditions? (UPA International)

Next Thursday, September 21, UPA Développement international is pleased to invite you to its first virtual meeting of the fall season. We will deal with food security within the borders of a country: how can a government ensure the food well-being of its population? What control should it exercise over its own exports? On a smaller scale, we will ask ourselves how the power of peasants over their family’s food translates when their own security is threatened.

Ms. Jessica Dufresne, lawyer, lecturer, doctoral candidate, LL.M., LL.B., recently looked at the situation in India which blocked its exports of basmati rice to feed its population.

Mrs. Djeneba Diallo, breeder and dairy processor, president of the Women’s College of the Confédération Paysanne du Faso and vice-president of the Regional College of the Network of Peasant Organizations and Agricultural Producers of West Africa (ROPPA).

Also, founding member of the Federation of Breeders of Burkina Faso in which she was treasurer for 5 years. Ms. Diallo will testify in particular about the security risks weighing on women who cannot practice their profession as farmers and participate in the food security of their country due to the conflict raging in the Sahel.
