Throughout the world, soil is the foundation of agricultural productivity. Our food depends on its fertility and on its complexity, a large part of biodiversity. However, desertification, torrential rains, rampant urbanization, intensive use of fertilizers and pesticides, leaching… exhaust it.
From Africa and Quebec, our three guests will paint a portrait of the threats and discuss solutions for maintaining and restoring soil. Their thoughts will range from practical solutions to biotechnologies.
The guests :
- Mr. Sébastien Angers , breeder and producer of sunflower seeds, who practices “regenerative agriculture” in Quebec.
- Mrs. Mariama Cissé , agricultural producer in Senegal, she is also involved in professional agricultural and community organizations in addition to being a farmer-trainer in the Dekkal Suuf project, an initiative of UPA DI and the CNCR aimed at improving health soils of family farms.
- Mr. Louis Simard , Vice-President Innovation, Research and Development, Premier Tech Producers and Consumers, a Quebec company that offers solutions adapted to local realities.
